The Water Club in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico magnificently redefines the
meaning of boutique hotel. Offering more than just chic decor and first-rate
service, this island oasis invites you to soothe and stimulate all of
your senses while indulging your spirit of adventure.
As you enter the lobby, the Water Club's aquatic theme engulfs you with
waterfall-adorned walls, subdued lighting, and exotic scents, making you
feel as if you have just entered a delightful grotto. Water and its soothing
properties flow, surprisingly enough, in the elevators with cascading
waterfalls that seem to defy gravity and surf-like sounds and candlelight
in the halls. Along with a lovely view of the ocean, each of the 84 guest
rooms has the amenities you would expect to find in any large contemporary
hotel, with some unexpected yet minimalist design elements that are skillfully
brought together to create a relaxing and sensual atmosphere.
The aquatic sensations continue in Liquid -- an intimate lounge area
that boasts a waterfall that runs the entire length of the bar. Stone-textured
walls softened by diaphanous curtains combined with soft angular seating
create a minimalist feeling in a comfortable, relaxed setting. A delightful
spot for morning coffee or for pre-dinner drinks, Liquid truly comes alive
at night-particularly on the weekends-as the stylish "glitterati" of San
Juan and beyond come together to socialize into the wee hours.
For dinner, treat yourself to an exotic dining experience at the Water
Club's signature restaurant, Tangerine where Chef Cesar Fernandez serves
up sophisticated Euro-Asian cuisine in this intimate setting. Try the
Crispy Vietnamese Lobster Rolls as an appetizer (or, as the menu playfully
calls it, "Foreplay"). Choose a main course ("Loss of Innocence") from
such offerings as grilled Atlantic salmon and New York strip steak, or
try a house specialty. The dessert menu ("Sensuous Pleasures") will tempt
you with scrumptious treats such as Banana Chocolate Cheesecake Tempura.
While at the Water Club, Don't forget to explore the open-air bar upstairs,
aptly named Wet. Carved tropical woods, stone wall hangings, an outdoor
fireplace, and Balinese objects d'art blend with the familiar flowing
water theme to create a sexy yet casual atmosphere. From this vantage
point you can gaze out over the ocean, take a dip in the rooftop pool,
or relax in the hot tub to melt away any residual stress.
